Big Garden Birdwatch

Big Garden Birdwatch

The RSPB's annual twitcher-fest is upon us again as thousands of volunteers help keep track of wild bird populations nationwide.

Despite recent ferocious winters, the 2011 survey counted over 10 million birds, giving hope that numbers are bouncing back. So pour yourself a hot drink and settle down to give Berks and Bucks birdies a health-check, making a note of the highest number of each species seen on the ground at any one time. Alternatively pop down to Rowan Garden Centre where the RSPB will be handing out advice and entry forms. There will be activities, competitions and prizes with 10% off bird food on the day.

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is on Sat 28 or Sun 29 January 2012
