Alison Steadman, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst and Ruthie Henshall are starring in Noels Cowards classic Blithe Spirit at the Milton Keynes Theatre.

Alison Steadman will be appearing as the eccentric medium Madame Arcati at Milton Keynes Theatre from February 14 to 19, 2011, in Noel Cowards most enduringly popular comedy.

Joining her as haunted husband and wife Charles and Ruth Condomine are Robert Bathurst and Hermione Norris, who starred together as David and Karen Marsden in the hugely popular comedy drama Cold Feet, with Ruthie Henshall appearing as the vengeful spirit of Charles ex wife Elvira.

Novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth are literally haunted by a past relationship when an eccentric medium manages to conjure up the ghost of Charless neurotic first wife, Elvira, at a seance.

Blithe Spirit opened in 1941 when it played for over 2,000 performances and hugely raised wartime spirits. It has been one of the worlds favourite comedies ever since. Its razor-sharp wit and wonderful characters have ensured its reputation as Cowards finest work.

Directed by the award winning Thea Sharrock, whose production of Rattigans After the Dance at the National Theatre was hailed as ..a masterpiece by The Sunday Times, this hilarious tale of love, life and the afterlife guarantees to raise spirits both in the audience and on stage.

Blithe Spirit is produced by Theatre Royal Bath Productions whose recent productions include Enjoy, Mrs Warrens Profession and The History Boys. Current productions include The Rivals starring Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles, Masterclass starring Stephanie Beacham and a new tour of last years hit production of The History Boys
