Sculptors from London, the Home Counties and across the South of England will be displaying their inspiring and creative work in the ancient setting of Fulham Palace, the former residence of the Bishops of London.

From Tuesday August 6 to Tuesday August 27, this grade 1 listed building by the River Thames hosts the members of Surrey Sculpture Society, who will be showing their work on a sculpture trail leading through the extensive walled gardens, exterior courtyards and then into the many interesting interior spaces of this historic building.

The sculptures will range from figurative and animal subjects to dramatic abstract forms. Each imaginative piece is as individual as the 374 talented professional and amateur members of the Society, with something for every taste and budget, for home or garden.

These thought-provoking sculptures show beauty, movement and emotion and have been made in bronze, resin, ceramic, metal, glass, wood, stone and found objects. All sculptures will be available for visitors to purchase.

• Surrey Sculpture Society’s exhibition at Fulham Palace runs from Tuesday August 6 to Tuesday August 27, 10.15am to 4.15pm, daily. Admission is free. Further information about the society can be found at www.surreysculpture.org.uk, along with further 2013 exhibitions and event dates and membership details.

• Visitors to Fulham Palace can also explore the Museum (open Saturday to Wednesday, 1pm to 4pm) and Botanic Gardens (open dawn until dusk) or enjoy breakfast, lunch or a coffee in the Palace’s Drawing Room Cafe (open daily, 9.30am to 5pm). Fulham Palace also stages outdoor theatre, live music, lectures, a summer film series, events for children and garden and historic tours. For more information visit www.fulhampalace.org.
