Holme Grange School in Wokingham hosted the Eurotalk Junior Language Challenge semi-final.
Ten pupils from Years 5 and 6 who have been learning Japanese since June, competed with children from other schools from the south of England for a place in the grand final in October, and the chance to win the first prize of a family holiday to Africa.
The children played Japanese language games from EuroTalk’s learning program on iPads, with the top three progressing to the final. They will then learn a third language, Somali, before the Grand Final, which will be held at the Languages Show in London on Friday, 17 October. The three finalists are all from Holme Grange school: Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Georgia Pickford and Aryam Rege.
