Poetry written by two pupils of The Marist Preparatory School in Sunninghill took first place and a highly commended spot in the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) Poetry Competition.
Ella Passell, nine, won first place in the Primary category with her entry ‘I Wonder’ – a poem about being an ant, and Mia Harvey, 10, was highly commended for her work, ‘The New Teacher’.
NACE launched a nationwide competition for poets to produce work on a subject that inspired them, with author Anne Fine OBE judging the results. Over 1,000 entries were made from schools, both nationally and internationally. Headteacher, Jenny Finlayson said: “I am thrilled that our girls have achieved such a high standard of work and am so proud of Ella being the overall winner. We have some amazing writers in this school and this competition has highlighted this.”
