Archant

With The Great British Bake Off returning this month, we took a look back at how some previous Berkshire/Buckinghamshire contestants got on...

.

Greg Rutherford - The Great Sport Relief Bake Off: Series 2 (2014)

The Olympic long jump gold-medal winner from Bletchley appeared on The Great Sport Relief Bake Off alongside Jane Horrocks, Jason Gardiner and Star Baker for the episode, Kirsty Young.

.

Alvin Magallanes - Series 6 (2015)

Unlike the rest of the contestants on this article, we have no idea how Alvin from Berkshire gets on in The Great British Bake Off! However, if there’s one thing we do know after taking a look at Alvin’s Instagram page, it’s that he sure knows how to bake!

.

Martha Collison - Series 5 (2014)

Ascot’s Martha Collison made Bake Off history in 2014 becoming the youngest ever contestant to appear in the series. Not only that, she also managed a hugely impressive 5th place finish, just behind Chetna Makan and finalists Richard Burr, Luis Troyano and eventual winner Nancy Birtwhistle. You can see our interview with Martha and Mary Berry here.

.

Mark Onley and Toby Waterworth - Series 4 (2013)

Mark from Milton Keynes and Toby of Reading both appeared on series 4 of the show back in 2013. Unfortunately it was disappointment for our local bakers as Toby was eliminated in week 1, followed shortly by Mark in week 3. You can see our interview with Toby here and take a look at his profiteroles recipe here.

.

Peter Maloney - Series 3 (2012)

Another Berkshire baker; this time Peter from Windsor who appeared in series 3 alongside eventual winner John Whaite. The sales manager was eliminated in week 2.

.

David Chambers - Series 1 (2010)

Our area was first represented in The Great British Bake Off way back in 2010 (time flies, eh?!) by David from Milton Keynes. David made it all the way to week 4 to secure a 5th place finish.
