Heralded as the ‘Antonio Banderas’ of cooking by Gordon Ramsay, TV chef and author Omar Allibhoy is introducing a taste of authentic Spanish cooking to Windsor.

October 2018 saw the opening of his newest restaurant, Tapas Revolution, which continues with his mission of bringing traditional tapas dishes to the UK.

The restaurant boasts an extensive menu, which has been cleverly designed to guide its diners on a culinary journey through Spain. Simply divided into meat, fish and vegetable dishes, the food is all handmade on site, crafted from ingredients sourced from small-scale Spanish suppliers. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with all the classic favourites on offer, from chorizo, croquetas de jambon and calamares for the main course through to freshly prepared churros for pudding. Omar has a wealth of expertise and experience at his disposal, having cooked for the likes of Prince William and Johnny Depp and with two cookbooks to his name, so diners are in for a treat.

The drink offering is equally impressive, with a list of premium gin and tonics served in the traditional ‘Copa de Balon’ glass. Omar and his team have worked in collaboration with the Cocktail Trading Company to produce an eclectic Spanish-inspired cocktail list, helping to give Tapas Revolution a buzzing atmosphere day and night. The ethos of the restaurant is inspired by Omar’s family recipes, as well as by the Spanish culture of sharing, socialising and eating. “Tapas is more than food – it’s part of our everyday culture,” he says. “Food and life are always best shared.”

Omar has already opened six successful restaurants, so Windsor marks his next stop in the journey to spread Spanish food across the country. “I come from Old Castile, a historic region of Spain, so have always felt at home in Windsor and have visited many times since moving to England 13 years ago,” he says. Tapas Revolution occupies a prime location on Thames Street, with views of the castle. “I’m so excited to share Spanish heritage with such an iconic English town,” Omar adds.
