Some of the best Christmas markets in Berkshire for 2018

With shopping, fairs, markets and plenty of food and drink, we’ve rounded up some of the best festive offerings in Berkshire
Newbury - 10-11 November
The Newbury Festive Fair will be kicking off Christmas celebrations at Newbury Showground. There will be something for all the family, from a Circus through to a ‘Festival of Dogs’ for your four-legged friends. The Great British Bake Off’s Julia Chernogorova will also be making a guest appearance.
Sunninghill - 18 November
Attractions include dozens of stalls bearing Christmas gifts and street food, Sunninghill-style! Also for the hungry, there’s a beer tent hot and food stalls. The fayre always has an air of excitement and Christmases past about it. Stall holders and visitors can often be seen in Victorian costume.
National Animal Welfare Trust - 18 November
As well as a dog show, there’ll be a variety of stalls on offer at this event in Great Shefford. Find festive food and drink, decorations and gifts.
Wokingham - 25 November
The town’s Winter Carnival is open from 11am to 6pm with a winter wonderland theme. Enjoy fun fair rides, 125 stalls ranging from food and drink to craft and charity.
Newbury - 25 November and 9 December
Newbury Artisan Market has added an extra date for Christmas due to high demand. The home of all things handmade, fresh and local, the Newbury market is the place to go for gifts that live and breathe Berkshire. Christmas sights and smells mingle to create one of the most buzzing markets in the region.
Purley on Thames - 25 November
Held between 11am and 3pm at Purley Barn, this Christmas market will have multiple stalls selling Christmas gifts and cards, a raffle, music and of course mulled wine!
Ascot - 29 November-2 December
With an incredible 150 companies present, you’ll truly need the entire day to experience the Christmas Fair at Ascot. With a delightful mix of boutique outlets selling plenty for every member of the family, you’re sure to give the most unique gifts under the tree this Christmas. There is also plenty for foodies, with an entire floor dedicated to edible gifts — and hungry shoppers! Tickets cost £5 online, £7 by phone and £9 on the day. 9.30am to 5pm every day (until 4pm on Sunday).
Cookham - 2 December
The High Street will come alive as this annual traditional Christmas fayre returns to Cookham. It is fabulously festive, so pop down and see the beautiful village decked with twinkling lights and transformed into a winter wonderland. There will be 70 stalls including street food from around the globe, the village restaurants and hostelries, local crafts so you can make a start on buying your presents, artists, charities and entertainment. There will also be a merry-go-round for the children.
Arlington - 5 December
2018 is set to be Arlington’s biggest Christmas Fayre ever, with organisers hoping to see 80 stalls of festive goodies take over the business park for a day of shopping and Christmas cheer. The selection of scrumptious stalls will include homemade jam, cheeses, crafts and clothing, as well as stock from a selection of popular local boutiques. Lucky shoppers will also have the opportunity to make friends with a family of reindeer.
Twyford - 7 December
One of the largest annual events in the village, the much-loved Twyford Village Christmas Street Fayre returns this year on the first Friday in December. In addition to the usual stallholders tempting shoppers with their beautiful wares, this street fayre sees a visit from Father Christmas, fairground rides and carol singers providing the evening’s entertainment.
Peacock Farm Pub - 7-9 December
Head down to quintessentially English Peacock Farm Pub for their Christmas market this December. Situated in the heart of royal Berkshire with traditional décor and roaring fires, it really doesn’t get much more festive than this. Enjoy the Christmas market along with live music and, of course, a trip to see Father Christmas.
Olney - 9 December
Get into the spirit of Christmas at Olney’s Dickens-themed festive extravaganza. With stallholders decked in their best Victorian finery, enough gift and food stalls to entertain you for hours, street performers, live music and a visit from Santa, this unique event is not one to miss.
Dinton - 15-16 December
Make the trip to the beautiful Dinton Pastures Country Park for their Christmas Fair. The ideal fair for families, in addition to plenty of opportunity to find the perfect stocking filler, it is set to feature fairground rides, a climbing tower, meet the reindeer and reindeer talks.
The Lexicon Bracknell - Until Christmas Eve
Luxury shopping mall The Lexicon are holding their first festive markets this year. In addition to the shopping and eating offering the complex already holds, a sea of festive stalls will descend for the season. Visit for delicious sweet treats, personalised Christmas decorations and gifts you won’t find elsewhere.
