Local choir to join BRIT award winners on stage at The Stables, Wavendon

BRIT Award Winners BLAKE have been busy with a nationwide search of the UK for local choirs to join them to join them on stage as part of their Love Lifts US Up UK tour. Alive & Singingwill be joining Blake on stage at The Stables, Wavendon,on Saturday, 25 Augustto perform some of the groups well known classic-pop renditions, including Hallelujah, Jerusalem and Nessun Dorma songs that helped catapult the group to global success after their formation using Facebook in 2007.

Alive & Singing was formed by Blake fans, Gini and Andrew Bone, in September 2011 and now has choirs in Ampthill and Stevenage. With several members hailing from Milton Keynes, a third choir will be starting up there in September. The choir has performed at a number of community fund-raising concerts around Ampthill since their inception, singing feel-good pop, rock and show songs in harmony.

The vocal quartet came up with the idea of having a local choir joining them on stage after they toured schools across the country giving performances and talks about the music industry. The schools tour was part of the campaign for our 2nd Brit nomination, but it quickly became so much more than that to us. The kids really engaged with what we did and we were blown away by the talent and confidence of some of them in the mock X-Factor auditions that we held. With all that singing talent, we just couldnt understand why choirs werent as popular as they used to be, explains baritone Jules Knight.

The members of Blake all found their love of music at a young age and sang with various groups and choirs throughout their childhood. Their passion for music continues to grow and they wanted to share this with the communities they would be visiting on their tour. We thought about how we could involve school choirs and local community choirs in our live shows, and that getting some of the choirs up on stage with us would be a great experience for both them and us, added Tenor Oliver Baines.

The show in Milton Keynesis part of Blakes UK Tour Love Lifts Us Up. Audiences at Blakes tour will be in for a treat as the band showcase tracks from their new album due out later this year, in addition to performing songs from their previous three albums, including their BRIT Award Winning self-titled debut album.

2012 looks to be Blake's busiest year to date with the release of their brand new album in America and the UK as well as tours and concerts in the UK, China, the Philippines, USA and Bermuda thus confirming Blake as one of the UK's busiest and most internationally in-demand bands.
