Arts in May at Maiden Erleigh

Fantastic workshops run for adults during summer half-term
Arts in May runs from 29 May – 1 June, covering subjects such as free-form silver jewellery, cubist watercolours, drawing for the terrified, rag-rugging, kitchen-sink lithography, handmade books and journals, feature on the list of arts workshops offered. Most are suitable for beginners.
The idea for Arts in May was born when, for the second year running, Maiden Erlegh Community Arts found they would not be able to schedule their successful August arts summer school because parts of the school will be undergoing major refurbishment works.
Mixed media and printmaking tutor, Karen Carter, explains: “Rather than have no summer school at all, offering a smaller selection of workshops in May is the next best thing. Running workshops in adjacent studios creates a real buzz.” Community Arts administrator, Ali Campbell adds: “All our tutors are very welcoming and helpful to beginners and experienced students alike. People may book just one or a mix of several workshops. We hope to be back with a full-scale summer school for adults in August 2015.”
Community Arts at the school also has on offer other acrylics workshops for adults on Saturdays 17 May and 14 June.
Details and booking forms for all workshops may be found under ‘Community’ on the school website: www.maidenerleghschool.co.uk/community/community-arts or phone 0118 9296065. Booking for Arts in May is extended until Monday 19th May.
