Our pick of the top Berkshire events taking place this July

Animal magic

Listen up please… an event not to be miss is the Dogs Trust Newbury 2015 Fun Day from noon to 4pm on 19 July. It all takes place in the centre at Plumb’s Farm, Hamstead Marshall, with free entrance and a parking fee of just £2.

Enjoy a fun dog show, goodies and plants for sale, free microchipping for dogs and teas, coffee and cakes for their two-legged. Find out more on the Newbury page of www.dogstrust.org.uk.

Before then you can head to Chalkhouse Green Farm’s open day on 5 July. This traditional farmstead is at at Kidmore End, Reading, RG4 9AL, and the open day had something for all with gardens, trailer rides and rare breeds.

There are working Suffolk Punch horses, pigs and piglets, donkey rides, geese and ducks, vintage farm equipment, you’ll find it all here, and much more. The event is from 2pm to 6pm in association with the Yellow Book National Garden Scheme, entrance £3.50, wheelchair users, carers and children free. See chgfarm.com, tel: 01189 723631.
