Bride: The Wedding Show at Ascot Racecourse

Love is in the air this month and if you get a St Valentine’s Day proposal or are already planning your perfect wedding there’s no better place for inspiration than Bride: The Wedding Show at Ascot Racecourse on the weekend of March 14-15, 2015.

The event is organised by our new sister magazine, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Bride, due out this March and Berkshire and, Buckinghamshire Life readers can get discounted tickets for just £3 by entering the code LIFE48 at www.theweddingshow.co.uk (standard advance price £5, or £7.50 on the door, with free entry for visitors aged 16 and under).

On the Sunday, which is Mother’s Day, the first 20 mums through the door get a free glass of champagne. The first 100 brides each day receive a goody bag with wedding favours, treats and samples.

The 2014 event was praised by exhibitors and visitors alike. Exhibitor Lorraine Langridge of Brides Visited said: “There is a great feel good factor to the show, we do a lot of wedding shows and this is by far the most entertaining”, and bride Mandy Pack described it as “the best wedding show I have been to.”

This year local brides-to-be will be married with more than 80 of the region’s finest wedding suppliers, from bridal boutiques to venues, jewellers to cakemakers, florists to photographers, offering advice and inspiration.

The spectacular choreographed catwalk shows are on at 11.30am, 1.15pm and 3pm daily. Expect to see gowns from The Wedding Warehouse, Confetti Bridal and Bride & Proms, plus menswear from Slaters, to name just a few.

Brides receive a free copy of the launch edition of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Bride, packed with inspiration, advice and real wedding stories. There will be special show offers, discounts and competitions too, and you can toast your future with a glass of bubbly in the Champagne bar.

Set to showcase the greatest hit songs, this musical is set in 1963. Bobby and Laura’s single ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ is only half a hit. Norman and Sue have settled down to non marital bliss – and a baby! And Ray and Donna seem blissfully happy. The tempting drama of Faust

See a rare production of Charles Gounod’s acclaimed opera Faust when Swansea City Opera return to the South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell, in a celebration of their 10th anniversary. Their performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro last year received critical acclaim.

Sung in English, this dark Gothic tale follows the fortunes of Faust, who weary of life, is contemplating suicide when he encounters Méphistophélès (the Devil). It’s widely regarded as a magical and tuneful masterpiece, based on Goethe’s dramatic poem Faust.

There will be a free pre-performance talk about the production for ticket-holders at 6.15pm, given by Brendan Wheatley, Artistic Director of Swansea City Opera. Book at www.southhillpark.org.uk.
