This year’s Newbury Waterways Festival takes place on Sunday, 27 July at Victoria Park, right in the centre of the town.

A flotilla of boats will transform the wharf, dressed for the theme of ‘Viking Invasion’. Trip boat Jubilee will be busy running trips all weekend, looking a little different with Viking shields along its side and a figurehead. On Sunday the park will be packed with stalls, entertainment, and food outlets with fun for all the family.

Boats will start arriving for the Festival on Friday 25th July. Dressed up for display on Sunday, visitors will have a chance to see inside some of the narrowboats, including boats that are available for holiday hire.

In the park there will be a wide range of stalls where visitors can shop, eat, learn or try their luck at winning. And there will be plenty of opportunities for the kids to play at the funfair and on the land train.

The sophisticated sounds of locally-based saxophone quartet ‘Group Sax’ will entertain visitors during the day with their broad repertoire. The Festival will conclude with the traditional duck race when more than a thousand plastic ducks race to win their sponsor a prize.

The Festival will take place between 10am and 5pm on Sunday, 27 July with an official opening at 11am.

Everyone is welcome and entry is free.
