Local charity Thames Hospice is launching a brand new event through the picturesque and stunning landscape of Virginia Water.

Called The Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk and with a choice of 13k, 6.5k and 4k distances, this fundraising challenge has something for everyone.

The walk will take place at 9am on Saturday, 28 June and aims to raise more than £20,000. With the sunshine making a welcomed appearance, the Thames Hospice fundraising team ‘sprung’ into action this week to test the new walk.

Susan Blues, Events Fundraiser at Thames Hospice, said: “We are very lucky to have such amazing landscapes on our doorstep and Virginia Water is definitely one of the prettiest. With a range of distances, the event will appeal to people of all ages. Whether you are a regular walker or family looking for a fun day out, the Sunflower Walk gives everyone the chance to enjoy a beautiful setting and raise money for their local hospice charity.”

The fundraising team is also currently organising a host of activities for the day, from dress up characters and facepainting for the children, to gardening tips for the adults. The Sunflower Walk costs £20 per adult to enter, children are free. To register, call 01753 848947 or visit thameshospice.org.uk/sunflowerwalk. The entry price includes a goodie bag and brunch at The Wheatsheaf, next to Virginia Water car park.
