Hennessy Gold Cup Day

A thronging crowd of over 17,000 racegoers braved the plummeting -3C temperatures for the 54th Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury Racecourse. Featuring on a card of eight jump races, The Hennessy Gold Cup was the highlight on the final day of Newburys Winter Festival, which welcomed 30,000 racegoers across its three days.

Diamond Harry, trained by Nick Williams and ridden by Daryl Jacob, was the victor, while Denman held on for a gallant third.

Celebrities who braved the cold included Jerry Hall, Hollywood superstar Neve Campbell, author Jilly Cooper and Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber.
