Improvements at Pangbourne Station are set to please commuters, with the car park extended to include an extra 35 spaces.
MP Alok Sharma marked the completion of work there and the car park extension following over £180,000 investment, including Department for Transport Station Commercial Projects funding. Further work has also seen the toilet facilities refurbished and upgraded as part of FGW’s on-going station improvement plans.
The MP for Reading West toured the station with Duty Station Manager Sara Hibberd. He said: “I am pleased that First Great Western has invested in improving parking facilities for my constituents at Pangbourne station and I know this will be appreciated by local rail users.
“More widely the government has embarked on the biggest rail modernisation programme since the Victorian era and Reading Station, which also serves many of my constituents and where First Great Western is working with Network Rail to deliver a station fit for the 21st century, is another excellent example of government investment in the railways.” Sara Hibberd said: “FGW are continually looking at ways to improve our stations and improve access to the full range of services that we can offer. This £180,000 work will allow even more Pangbourne residents to park at the station, helping us to keep people moving in these congested times.”
