Brit Award winner Jessie J is to perform at Newbury Racecourse's Party in the Paddock<br/>Ladies Day, Newbury Racecourse, Saturday 18 August 2012
Newbury Racecourse has announced that on Saturday 18th August 2012 Brit Award Winner Jessie J will perform live after racing at the Berkshire tracks social summer highlight Party in the Paddock. Boasting 18 global number one hits and renowned for her ghetto pop style the powerhouse voice will perform her only concert this year along the M4 corridor on a day that celebrates world class sport and music combined with ladies style. Tickets went on sale at 12pm Thursday 22 March.
Jessie J is celebrated for her unconventional style that combines her soulful voice with contemporary R&B, hip hop and pop music and is set to perform her most recent number 1 hit Domino and chart toppers Price Tag, Do it Like A Dude and Who You Are.
Last year Jessie J was awarded the Brit Awards Critics Choice Award, won the BBC Sound of 2011 poll and sold over two million albums and six million singles worldwide and has proved to be a force to be reckoned with on stage with previous breathtaking performances at Glastonbury, Bestival and V Festival.
Jessie J, who was recently announced as a judge and mentor on the BBC 1 TV show The Voice UK commented: Im so excited about performing at Newbury, I expect the crowd will be buzzing after the racing and I am really looking forward to continuing the party with them!
Racing of quality and depth gets underway at 1.25pm, the feature race is the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes won last year by middle distance sensation Excelebration and the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer stakes is a further highlight. Off the track, the Fashions on the Field event, to find the most stylish lady at Newbury Races is a popular event, with fabulous prizes up for grabs for the best dressed lady.
Jessie J will take to the stage from 5pm. Tickets go on sale on Thursday 22 March from 12pm, with prices starting from just 30 which includes the racing and concert. With Jessie J recently completing two sell out tours, booking early is advised via www.newbury-racecourse.co.uk/jessiej
Stephen Higgins, Managing Director of Racing & Events at Newbury Racecourse adds: Securing an act like Jessie J, who has global army of fans, is testament to the popularity of the Party in the Paddock events. Last August Tom Jones crooned to 25,000 Ladies and Gents and who better to fill his shoes this time round than Jessie J, who will not only be setting the style stakes as a renowned fashionista, but will be aiming to rival her fellow The Voice UK judge (Tom) on the vocals!.
Party-goers can choose from a selection of ticket packages including panoramic restaurants and private hospitality and the popular White Room After Party returns where party-goers can continue in the party spirit after the gig with London based DJs Kingston Rhythm manning the decks.
The summer Party in the Paddocks are in their sixth successful year and gaining huge popularity from music lovers across the UK, often doubling the number of spectators that would attend a raceday. The August Party in the Paddock event is the grand finale to the summer season at Newbury Racecourse and in previous years has attracted sell-out crowds of 30,000 (2010). The concerts are establishing Newbury Racecourse as a major sporting and live music venue as well as for conferences, business meetings and events, whilst encouraging newcomers to horseracing.
