New pub sign near Pinewood wins award

The Black Horse at Iver Heath is just down the road from Pinewood Studios and now its sign featuring the late Sid James as Dick Turpin in his 19th and final Carry On film, Carry on Dick has won The Inn Sign Societys Sign of the Year Award.

The society looks out for signs that have aesthetic appeal, a new 'take' on an old name, local distinctiveness and decorative frame appeal.

Tony ONeill of independent brewers Hall & Woodhouse says: Inn signs throughout history have often sought to be amusing or humorous, which is why we felt that local and British icon Sid James riding a black horse was a perfect way to continue in this tradition and pay tribute to a great man!
