Guests from Caversham, along with their friends - 500 in all - helped raise funds for several charities while dining and dancing the night away. The ball, now in its third year, is run entirely voluntarily by a committee of six people.

This year the main charity was Mobility Trust which received a cheque for £10,000 to help provide severely disabled people with the powered wheelchairs they so desperately need. Chief executive Anne Munn was delighted with the response and thanked the committee for organising such a great event.

Guests enjoyed a Champagne reception before dining and dancing in the main marquee, which was decorated in a Moulin Rouge theme.
