Two Guinness World Records to be broken at all-day sponsored Rave and Ride event for the Motor Neurone Disease Association at Stoke Park

You could help to make history and raise vital funds for the MND Association by taking part in a momentous Rave and Ride event being held in Buckinghamshire on May 14 2016.

Organised by entrepreneur Steven Smith, who lost his mum, Genifer, to MND, the event at Stoke Park, Britain’s leading 5 AA Red Star Hotel, Spa and Country Club, will see individuals and teams of indoor cyclists come together for an all-day sponsored ride with club music provided by some of the biggest DJs from the UK and beyond plus some celebrity guests.

Two world records could also be broken during the day due to the scale of the event and with over 1000 are already expected to take part.

Sally Light, Chief Executive of the MND Association, said of the challenge: “It is a wonderful challenge that will help us to ensure that the needs of people with MND are recognised and met. The work of Steven will raise money to be used to fund the work of individuals working towards a cure.”

Steven, who lives with his family in High Wycombe, has already raised an incredible £115,000 for the MND Association from previous Rave and Rides, as well as countless other fundraising adventures, including, The Arctic, several London Marathons and the gruelling L’Etape du Tour cycle race.

He hopes the Rave and Ride in May will push his fundraising total to over £160,000, helping the Association to fund the work of two PhD students, based at its MND Care and Research Centre at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.

He explained: “I will not stop until a cure is found for MND. That is my motivation and that is what keeps me going.”

“Myself and my family cared for my Mum and MND took her life in 18 months. She was my best friend. If I could fund a scientist who helps to find the cure, that would be amazing.”
