January 25 to 29, 2011

I think it unlikely that many amongstushave not seen Swan Lakethe ballet, orat least know the story, and are maybeless than enthusiasticfor yet another interpretation. Forget what you know, grab the first available seat.

This is not only Swan Lake on Ice, it is an expression ofartistic icemastery which is breathtaking in its own presence, while taking nothing away from the plot we know so well.

The obvious enthusiasm of the all Russian cast projects such acharisma in their performance that the ice appears as acushion of air, whilst the audience is mesmerised.

The sheer vibrancy of the show is so thrilling and the artistry so masterful that at any Winter Olympics it would get a perfect ten.

This show has managed to mould the delicate movements of the ballet with the gracefulness of ice dancing and then some. Normally it would be appropriate to single out specific praise for members of the cast but individual performancesthroughout were of such high quality that to comment on each would turn this review into an epic.

Credit should also be given to theWaterside Theatre acoustics which managedto pitch just the right level ofsurround sound to give justice toTchaikovsky's score.

  • The show runs until January 29. For tickets call the box office on 0844 8717607 or book online at ambassadortickets.com
