TV Premiere of Berkshire & Chiltern's Life

Judging by the number of comments we've received, a lot of eagle-eyed readers spotted a copy of July's issue of Berkshire & Chilterns Life prominently displayed on a table during an episode of the popular BBC TV show The Restaurant recently. Contestants James Knight-Pachecho (pictured left) and Alasdair Hooper had obviously been thumbing through our glossy pages before talking to judge Sarah Woodingham.

The pair, from Devon, were running The Gallery Restaurant in Marlow and made it to the final of the show, where the prize is the opportunity to go into business with legendary chef and restaurateur Raymond Blanc.

Although they were beaten, Raymond offered them the chance to come and spend some time working and training with his team. He explained: "I couldn't just say good-bye to James and Alasdair as they were such worthy finalists so I have offered them three months' training at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons to help them with their dream of opening a fine dining restaurant."

Says Alasdair: "This can only lead on to better things and we still hope to open a restaurant one day, but with the addition of a spell checker and some valium (maybe more for me than James)!"
