The eyes of the world's media have turned on Bucklebury this week after the announcement of the engagement of Prince William to the village's most famous daughter, Kate Middleton.

Normally a quiet village, residents have grown used to media attention over the summer as speculation mounted about an announcement.

Kate was born in the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. Her parents Michael and Carole both worked for British Airways at Heathrow and were married in 1980 at the Parish Church in Dorney, near Windsor.

In 1987, the Middletons founded their own company, Party Pieces, selling party supplies and decorations and became millionaires.

Kate was raised at the family home in Bucklebury, near Newbury and attended St. Andrew's School in Pangbourne, before at short spell at Downe House, then boarding at Marlborough College in Wiltshire.

One villager said that everyone had come to treat Prince William as a frequent and welcome visitor and everyone wished the couple well.
