Gerrards Cross resident and national treasure Cilla Black is starring as The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at the new Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury, this Christmas

What do you think of the new Waterside Theatre?

Its a really beautiful theatre, so state-of-the-art. When you hear of theatres and businesses closing, in these difficult times, I find it so exciting that Aylesbury Council, along with ATG, have risen to the challenge to support the arts and built this incredible building. I shall definitely be supporting it and what better way to do that than by appearing in the first ever pantomime to be produced there?

How does it feel playing panto so close to home?

I can stay at home, instead of in a hotel, with all my home comforts around me and it also means a lot of my pals who couldnt make it to Liverpool, when I last played panto, can come and see the show, which will be fun. You must tell me which restaurants stay open late in Aylesbury as Im sure therell be lots of nights when we want to eat after the show!

And your favourite restaurant?

Biggles restaurant located at Denham Aerodrome. Its owned by Manuel Resco and is such a great restaurant with a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. Ive been going there for a lorra lorra years! The food is wonderful and so much choice, but make sure you leave room for desert because when that trolley comes around you cant resist!

If you were a real fairy godmother,to which local charity would you grant a wish?

My wish would go to Scannappeal, which raises funds to purchase life-saving equipment for Amersham, Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals, which serve people living in Buckinghamshire and parts of Berkshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. Over 350,000 patients have already benefited from our work. There are lots of ideas on their website on how you can get involved.

Do you have any hobbies? If so what are they?

I love cooking. Theres nothing more relaxing than at the weekend having some friends round for lunch or on a Sunday getting the roast dinner ready my roast potatoes are legendary! And Christmas! Even with the panto Ill be bringing out the Delia Christmas book and getting all planned and ready for a lorra lorra food and fun!

If you were showing a friend from abroad around for the day where would you take them locally?

Denham Village is so beautiful; its like stepping back in time. My American friends love it and always want to go there. Now Ill also be taking them to the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury to see one of the shows playing there and show off our new local venue!

What do you love most about Buckinghamshire?

Its the best of both worlds beautiful quiet countryside with stunning scenery and yet only 30 minutes in the centre of London. Ive lived here for over 30 years and love every part of it.

Name your favourite place in the county.

Thats a hard question I love Old Beaconsfield for its little antique shops, great restaurants and its so picturesque. Gerrards Cross is my local shopping centre so thats a place youll find me often as well.
