Berkshire estate agent to run half marathon for charity

Adam Hesse is raising money for charity to thank them for helping him and his wife while their 20-month-old daughter was provided with life-saving treatment.
In June this year Indigo suffered acute kidney failure after catching a particularly virulent strain of the E-coli virus. She was admitted to the Renal ward at Bristol Children’s Hospital, where she spent two weeks in isolation.
As the hospital only allows one parent to sleep beside a child each night, Adam and his wife Elisa were referred to nearby Ronald McDonald House - an independent charity which provides home-from-home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children.
Adam, Director at Aston Mead estate agents, said: “As you can imagine, our lives were turned upside down and we found ourselves in a strange city, hours away from home, with nowhere to stay. Ronald McDonald House came to our aid, with a room in a nearby house set up for parents like us in the same situation. To be able to wash the few clothes we had, have a decent night’s rest and a hot shower during an extremely stressful time in our lives was an absolute godsend.”
Ronald McDonald House accommodates over 800 families each year, keeping families together by providing all the comforts that they would expect to find in their own homes, with spacious en-suite bedrooms, kitchens and communal living areas. They are always at full capacity and have long waiting lists of families desperately needing their help.
Now that Indigo is now fully recovered and back at home, Adam and Elisa have decided to raise as much money as possible for Ronald McDonald House by running the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday 21 September. You can sponsor them by logging onto their sponsorship site at www.justgiving.com/indigohesse.
Adam Hesse added: “We want to repay them for the amazing work they do, without any government funding, by raising a few quid - and what better place to do it than in the city Indigo was treated in?
“If you can spare just 5 pounds it would really be appreciated. And it would help ease the pain of those hills in Bristol!”
