The European Tour and Sky Sports star praises Wokingham course’s greens and practice facilities

Nick Dougherty first visited Bearwood Lakes in November 2013. Following a short negotiation, terms were agreed for Nick to use Bearwood Lakes as his base for the year as he works hard to recapture the form that has seen him collect three prestigious European Tour titles.

Nick says: “I am over the moon to be based at Bearwood Lakes. It is a wonderful golf course with USGA specification greens and has excellent practice facilities.

The ambience is incredibly relaxed and I am also looking forward to working with Bearwood Lakes’ juniors to develop their talent.”

Martyn Norris, Head of Marketing at Bearwood Lakes, adds: “We are delighted to be associated with Nick. He is a very fine player and we recognise not only his potential but also his very likeable personality that our members will benefit from. We are thrilled that Nick has also offered to support our junior programme which is a key development area for the club. He will be very welcome here and I am certain our outstanding club will support him in achieving his goals.”

Due to the complex nature of the entry system on the European Tour, opportunities have been limited so far this year for Nick, but at the end of April in Singapore he made his first European Tour appearance of 2014. An excellent first round 69 placed Nick amongst the leading pack before a solid round of 70 saw him safely through to the weekend. Eventually, the Bearwood Lakes based star finished on 5-under par, collecting his first tour cheque of the season and a welcome boost as he heads to the Madeira Islands Open at the Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra.
