Local television personality Johnny Ball will officially open Farnham Common Community Library to the public at 2pm on Saturday, 22 October.

The event will take place at Farnham Common Library building and Brian Jubb Hall, and will be a family event to reflect the library's ethos and vision of becoming a central part of the community.

Johnny Ball is a resident in Farnham Common and has been very supportive of the campaign to save the library. Father of BBC Radio 2 Journalist Zoe Ball, he was a regular fixture on children's television in the 1970s and 1980s, presenting several series of popular children's science and technology programmes including Think of a Number, Think Again, Think Backwards, Think This Way and Johnny Ball Reveals All.

Activities on the day will include a book and DVD sale, tombola, raffle, bag-a-bottle stall, plant stall, homemade cake stall, a magician, refreshments and more. There will also be a childrens fancy dress competition for those aged up to 10 years old who come dressed as their favourite storybook character. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
