Photographer Gill Prince’s idea for the MK50 Photography Book
PUBLISHED: 16:38 09 August 2016
You’re only as old as you feel – and as photographer Gill Prince and her loved city approach the big 5-0, she explains why a celebratory book is on the way
‘The idea for the MK50 Photography Book came about last summer over lunch with world renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite. We were talking about the fact that MK would be 50 in 2017, and that I too would be 50 in the same year (having moved here when we were both 25!) and he suggested that it would be great to do a book to celebrate Milton Keynes at 50. I got in touch with Lallie Davis from the MK50 team at MK Council and they loved the idea – as they wanted projects which would have a life after the year itself, and so it went from there.
‘The aim is to demonstrate how fabulous MK is as a place to live and work, and to show areas of the city which people may not be familiar with (very much in line with the new ‘Unexpected MK’ campaign, and which features two of my images.’
Sponsor the MK50 Book
In order to professionally design and print 500 copies of the book in September, the team need sponsorship from local businesses. On board are:
• Kaizen Restaurants Ltd. (a franchise of McDonald’s in Milton Keynes)
• Web design agency westfourstreet
• Digital and social media agency MK21
• Independent financial advisors 1st Financial Foundations
• Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership

Each sponsor will receive a proportion of the books for use as corporate gifts for Christmas 2016, plus associated publicity. This will ensure the book has as wide an audience as possible, and that MK is promoted. Any donations are welcome. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
