Harry Harris is one of the UK's best-known football journalists and author of the Fans' Guide to the World Cup 2010. He lives in Sunningdale with his wife Linda and daughter Poppy
Where will you be watching the World Cup? My book, Fans Guide to the World Cup 2010, was sponsored by Thomson Sport and they have offered to fly me out to South Africa for the tournament, so I might go there for a week or so. Otherwise I shall be commentating for ESPN, (Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, an American cable television network dedicated to broadcasting and producing sports-related programming 24 hours a day) from the comfort of my living room in Sunningdale.
Do you still go to football matches in your free time? Im a Spurs fan, but I only go to a match if I can enjoy the comfort of an executive suite and watch a game with a glass of Champagne in my hand.
Im also a founding partner of a whole new concept in cricket called Football 40 and were holding our first tournament, The London Legends Cup, at Upton Park (on May 30). Were hoping itll do for football what 20/20 has done for cricket. Football40 is evolving into potentially one of the most innovative developments football has seen for years. To be able to breathe new life and excitement into the ever popular legends market on an 11-a -side basis will provide income to thousands of former players, managers and referees. It is gratifying to not only invent something new, but also to put something positive back into the game, with a concept that will provide ex-players with employment. Weve got Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and West Hams top legends signed up to play and charities will benefit, too.
What sport, apart from football, do you enjoy? Tennis. Im a member of the Wentworth Club and play there when I can.
Can you recommend any restaurants? Linda and I enjoy coffee at Vanilla Delicatessen in Sunningdale, where I chose to launch my latest book. My daughter Poppy, who is eight, and to whom my book is dedicated, loves The Tigers Pad in Sunningdale and Piccolino on the A30 at Virginia Water. We also like Caff Amore in Sunningdale.
Where would you take a visitor from abroad for the day? The Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park. Its wonderful this time of year.
Fans Guide to the World Cup 2010, by Harry Harris, is priced at 12.99 and contains player profiles, team assessments and travel advice for those planning to go to South Africa.
