Designer boutique - Waud Women

PUBLISHED: 20:17 06 September 2007 | UPDATED: 14:50 20 February 2013

After just under twenty years in Newbury's Northbrook Street Waud Women, the designer boutique, has moved round the corner into Weaver's Walk, nearer it's eccentric new sister shop Fifi & Mousse...

Its former premises, at number 59, weren't long empty, however. Waud Men has stepped into its shoes.

Another new store has just joined the Newbury fashion scene. Katharine Jayne, in Market Place, is owned by former Camp Hopson buyer Kate Johnson, who aims to stock affordable, quality clothing with an accent on the original. "I want to create a look for a lifestyle," says Kate, whose clothes range from around £20 for a top up to £200 for a dress.

Ripples Bathrooms, also in Newbury, has reason to celebrate. Two of its design consultants were shortlisted in the prestigious New Designer of the Year Award category in The Designer Magazine Design Awards to be announced on October 2. Maria Kemp created a design for a walk-in shower, bath and freestanding basin, while Gemma Hewick designed a scheme built into the eaves of a roof, complete with shower and LED lighting.

If you're planning a shopping trip to Sunninghill, do pop into the newly refurbished Thames Valley Hospice Shop and check out their own gift range of candles, picture frames and pot pourris.
