Women who have had breast cancer still want to look and feel fabulous from the foundations up, and Windsor's leading department store, Daniel of Windsor, is committed to helping them.
With more than 49,000 women being diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, Daniel recognises that many of its customers may be looking for clothing that they can wear with a breast form, which is why the store is now delighted to be stocking lingerie and swimwear by Amoena, the world’s leading breast-care brand.
“We want to give our customers the very best choice of lingerie,” explains Margaret Rynne, buying manager at Daniel. “Women who’ve had a breast cancer diagnosis love to wear pretty bra and brief sets every bit as much after surgery as they did before, and Amoena lingerie is designed to offer them just that.”
Inspired by leading designers from Italy, Paris and the USA, the Amoena collection is designed to help women look gorgeous and feel good about themselves. “All our lingerie and clothing is made with very fine pockets that can hold a breast form or symmetry shaper,” explains Rhoda White, Amoena’s marketing manager, “so it can be worn by every woman – whether or not she has had breast surgery. And because of our attention to detail and focus on fit, it’s also supremely comfortable.”
Founded in Germany in the 1970s with the invention of the silicone breast form or prosthesis, and now operating in more than 70 countries worldwide, in 2015 Amoena celebrates its 40th anniversary. With its philosophy to support a woman throughout her day, from morning to night, Amoena is dedicated to women who’ve had a diagnosis of breast cancer – helping them regain their sense of femininity, beauty and strength.
Choice and versatility
As well as its breast prostheses and shapers, Amoena offers a comprehensive range of textiles designed to offer busy women the choice they want and the versatility they need, with a selection of products for every day and every activity. It includes lingerie, swimwear, sleep sets, daywear, loungewear, headwear and workout clothing in fashionable styles that incorporate high-tech touches for comfort and performance.
In everyday lingerie, Amoena has a wonderful selection of go-to styles, and no woman’s lingerie drawer would be complete without at least one of its famous T-shirt bras. They come with or without underwires and have subtle padding which helps balance and boost the bust beautifully. Each season sees new colours, fabrics and styles, so every day can be a va-va-voom day.
When it comes to out-and-out allure, though, Amoena takes luscious lingerie to a whole new level, as Rhoda White explains: “We were the first to introduce a capsule range specifically designed to offer women who’ve had breast cancer surgery a sexy lingerie option.” The high-end Seduction capsule collection certainly ups the glamour stakes. Inspired by Parisian couture, it includes sumptuous fabrics and finishes with more than a little of the boudoir and burlesque about them.
Fitness enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the Amoena Active range of high-performance sports separates in graphic designs and bright pops of colour, with super-supportive sports bras to complete the look. Meanwhile 2015 saw Amoena extend its home and leisurewear ranges to include beautiful nightwear and relaxed separates that are perfect for sleep or sofa, while easy, feminine dresses in vibrant colours make for effortless dressing. All styles include an integral pocketed shelf bra.
The Amoena range is available from its shop in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, from selected retailers including Daniel of Windsor, online at www.amoena.co.uk and via mail order. For more information, call 0845 072 4023.
