The local chocolate giant has been supporting the Windsor Half Marathon for over 20 years, highlighting its long term commitment to the event. Sponsors announced so far include Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, everydayhero, Macdonald Windsor Hotel and Mars Chocolate UK.
The Windsor Running Festival incorporates the Running4Women Windsor 10K on 26 September and the Windsor Half Marathon on 27 September, both held in Windsor Great Park. Other happenings on the Sunday include the Sprite Sprint run where five to nine year-olds run 40m, and the 2.5 mile Glynn Shefford Memorial Run which is aimed at runners aged ten and above.
Investing in the local communities has been a key part of Mars’s long heritage in Slough and commitment to putting its Principles into action. The Windsor Running Festival is a perfect example of encouraging and nurturing active, healthy lifestyles and promoting physical activity whilst delivering a positive and lasting benefit to the community.
Race Director Peter Hier says: “We have long-standing relationship with Mars and share many core values, including the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity for people of all ages. The Windsor Running Festival is an all-inclusive weekend offering events from 40m for young people through to the half marathon distance, giving everyone the opportunity to be active. We also have a range of volunteering opportunities for anyone wanting to get involved without running.”
Claire Giacobbe, Community Relations at Mars Chocolate UK, adds: “It’s a really inclusive event that brings the local community together and it’s great to see so many people out there getting active and having fun all for the benefit of some very worthy causes. Best of luck to all the runners this year!”
